Therapy Approach
Rooted in Connection
I strive to be the kind of therapist who listens with her whole heart, as someone who shows up with presence, warmth, humility, and deep respect for your lived experience. I believe therapy is a sacred space for radical authenticity, deep connection, and the kind of everyday magic that happens when two humans show up fully, just as they are.
An Integrated Approach
I offer trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy and EMDR that honors your body, mind, culture, spirit, and environment. Whether you’re untangling old patterns, exploring identity, or carrying the weight of trauma, depression, anxiety, shame, or systemic stress, I create a collaborative space where you can be fully seen and supported in your healing. For those interested, I also incorporate optional intuitive practices such as tarot symbolism, ancestral reflection, or decolonial healing to support deeper insight and personal meaning-making.
Grounded in Experience
My practice is strengths-based, humanistic, and multicultural. It's rooted in empowerment, self-inquiry, and meaning-making. My life experiences, including living abroad, navigating multiple identities, and working in diverse communities, shape how I hold space for clients moving through complex systems and layered identities.I draw from a range of evidence-based and holistic approaches to support your unique needs, including:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed parts work
Mindfulness-based practices
Positive psychology
Somatic and trauma-informed approaches
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Career counseling, creativity, spirituality, and feminist theory

Meet Natalie Brunelle-Tran, LPC

Hi! I’m Natalie (she/her)
Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Coral Lotus People Counseling.
I Get How Hard It Is to Find the Right Therapist
You may be wondering:
“Will they get me?”
“Do they know what it’s like to feel torn in multiple directions?”
Or maybe you’ve asked yourself: “Where are the therapists that even vaguely look like me?”As the only child of a Thai-Chinese mother and a white American father, I grew up between cultures and identities. This experience, along with my life as a half-Asian, bicultural woman of color informs my passion about creating a space where you can bring your full self and be fully seen, heard, and supported.
Who I Work With
I specialize in supporting:
Asian Americans, BIPOC & the global majority
LGBTQ+ individuals & allies
First-generation, bicultural, and multiracial clients
Millennials, college students & helping professionals
Those navigating family, cultural, or class-based challenges
People carrying the weight of trauma, systemic stress, or complex identities
I welcome conversations about racial identity, whiteness, and navigating systems of power, especially for those who, like me, hold both privilege and marginalized identities.
My Path to This Work
Before becoming a therapist, I taught in Asia, worked with neurodiverse students, and provided both career counseling and community-based mental health care. My experiences living abroad, navigating multiple identities, and working in diverse communities shape how I hold space for others.Therapy found me in college while I studied Psychology and Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Since then, my journey has involved traveling the world, living nomadically, training as a therapist, and becoming a parent. These experiences have taught me that “home” isn’t just a place, but the people, stories, and moments that root us.
Outside the Therapy Room
When I’m not counseling, I’m usually spending time with my partner of 17 years, our spirited toddler, and loved ones. I enjoy traveling, exploring new places around Austin, streaming shows, reading (often something therapy-related), and staying politically engaged in ways true to my values.I have a deep love for eclectic fashion, funky jewelry, soulful traditions, and the thrill of a good thrift find. Eclectic pretty much sums me up.
Why I Do This
I’m endlessly curious about people, their resilience, their identities, and their stories. I’m here to walk alongside you in whatever you’re carrying, with warmth, curiosity, and an open heart.

The Practice
Behind the Name: Coral Lotus People
The name Coral Lotus People holds deep meaning for me. It reflects color, culture, lineage, and collective becoming.
Coral
A color I’ve connected with for years. Coral is vibrant and soft, alive yet calming. It reflects the path of healing holding both vitality and rest, joy and grounding, energy and stillness.
Lotus
In Buddhist thought, the lotus grows from the mud, rooted in messiness yet emerging in beauty and strength. Like the lotus, our stories often carry both struggle and resilience. As Thích Nhất Hạnh said,
“No mud, no lotus.”
People
People reflects the collective we belong to:
Bicultural people. Multiracial people. Children of immigrants. Queer folks. Cycle-breakers. Healers.
We are a new people, creating new cultures, new stories, and new ways of being.
I take inspiration from the words of Master Shiro Nomura, a teacher of traditional Japanese arts, spoken to his multiracial apprentice, Brenda Wong Aoki:
“The world is a very small place and people like you are now being born every day. How exciting! You are a new people. New people must have new stories, new cultures, and new art forms. You must take the things I give you and make them your own.”
Coral Lotus People Counseling is my offering to this vision, a space for the new people, blooming like the lotus, infused with the vibrant warmth of coral.
